I’m Amelia Potts, and our chocolatey adventure was born out of the inspiration I got from my fabulous mum, Mrs Potts, and my whole family back in Australia. When I moved to the UK more than a decade ago, I was looking for a cafe to go that was casual but at the same time felt a little special. I yearned for the coziness, combined with the delectable homemade treats we always had in our kitchens at home.
Growing up, our kitchen was a cozy haven filled with laughter and the inviting smell of fresh bakes. It was there that I dreamt of sharing my family’s magic with the world, their knack for transforming simple ingredients into joyful creations.

In 2016, my parents made their way to the UK, and together, we set out to turn this dream into reality. Our first store in Bristol opened its doors in 2017, and what a journey it’s been! From a single store to a family of three stores, in Bristol, Bath and Cardiff and a team of over 60 fantastic staff members.
Picture walking into a café as warm and welcoming as a family kitchen, greeted by sights, smells, and tastes that spark fond memories of home. Everything is freshly prepared on-site, using quality ingredients, locally sourced whenever possible.
Mrs Potts is all about giving you a snug, relaxing spot to unwind with a mug of hot chocolate, made from pure flaked chocolate and milk. No powdered stuff here! But we’ve got more than just that. Our menu is packed with all sorts of sweet delights like cakes, cookies, milkshakes, sundaes, and more, not to mention our fun events like pudding club nights and chocolate workshops.
Back to the family side of things, everyone chips in at Mrs Potts. Mum, Mrs Potts, is our guiding star. Dad’s the sturdy rock, supporting us all the way. Jared, my husband, and I are constantly at work to keep our chocolate houses running smoothly. Our three adorable kids take their role of official cake testers seriously – only the yummiest treats make it past their keen taste buds! And let’s not forget my brother, Thomas, and his wife, Mel, who’ve recently joined us to make Mrs Potts Chocolate House an even better place to visit.
Our journey hasn’t been without its hurdles. Right on the first day, we found ourselves sold out of brownies by noon with none left in the oven! Adding to the challenge, our youngest, Edith, was just four months old then. Juggling the needs of a baby with the demands of our busy kitchen was a real test. But these trials have taught us more than we could have imagined. We’ve grown into masters of multitasking and learned the art of balance in all things we do.
In the same way that the espresso machine revolutionised coffee in the mid-20th century, we envision a hot chocolate revolution. But we don’t stop at just revolutionising. We dream of Mrs Potts Chocolate House dotting the globe, creating a chain of cozy chocolate havens worldwide.
I remember how excited I was. Our first store, our face up there on a billboard – a moment we’ll never forget.
